Environmental Sustainability

Our Commitment to Environmental, Economic and Social Sustainability

EUISSCASince 2011, we have participated in the Electric Utility Industry Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance (EUISSCA), which assists with measuring our company’s carbon footprint and setting reduction goals. As of August of 2018, we became a member of the EUISSCA Supplier Affiliate program to continue to share our efforts and collaborate closer with our utility partners. As stewards of the environment, INTREN has several initiatives that have impacted the company in positive ways and which are committed to environmental, economical, and social sustainability throughout the organization. It has been our goal to make long-term investments in technology and techniques that reduce emissions, along with significant strides to stay ahead of customer demands.

‘American Business Act on Climate’ Pledge

In 2015 Loretta Rosenmayer, Founder and CEO of INTREN, met with President Obama, along with other corporate CEOs, to discuss the ‘American Business Act on Climate’ Pledge. From this meeting, INTREN set immediate goals to reduce their carbon footprint and the company’s impact on the environment.

Turning Commitment into Action

  • Reduced electricity usage by 40% across the organization
  • Added 70 eco-friendly fleet vehicles
  • Utilized 191,000 gallons of bio-diesel fuel
  • Reduced employee commute time and emissions by 8%
  • Reduced natural gas usage by 9%
  • Recycled 282 tons of material
  • Used 366,000 gallons of non-potable water for directional drilling purposes

Dedication to the Environment

With our 2018 GHG Emissions Report now available, we are proud to report that even though our Greenhouse Gas Emissions grew in 2018 due to company growth and an increase in work hours, our emissions per work hour stabilized in four of six categories. This shows that our environmental initiatives are working, especially our recycling and grey water programs.
